Corbisiero sees expectations around Northampton Saints

Alex Corbisiero, who was signed by the Aviva Premiership Rugby Football Union club the Northampton Saints in the close season, has stated that he can feel the expectations surrounding the club from the fans. The loose head prop, who is a full England international, was a part of the British and Irish Lions’ summer tour of Australia earlier this year signed for the Northampton outfit after terminating his contract with the London Irish.

However, he will not be a first choice for the number 1 shirt at the club with Alex Waller at the club after the club’s Tongan behemoth Soane Tonga’uiha moved to French club Racing Metro. And a lot is expected of the England international who is hopeful of helping the side go one better this season after the club lost out to their arch rivals the Leicester Tigers in the play off final for the Premiership title last season.

The 24 year old stated that the Northampton Saints showed exactly what they are capable of last season when they turned on the style in the latter stages of last season to qualify for the play offs before making their way into the final. He mentioned that the players showed a lot of heart in the final and although they lost the match, they won hearts of the fans and the players will be eager to make things right once again this season.

He mentioned that The Jimmies will target getting to the same level once again and people expect the club to reach that level again. He added that the Northampton Saints have brought in a lot of players during the summer and that can only improve the squad and this has led to the huge expectations surrounding the club this time around unlike their last season.
